Conservation Technician Harvard University Art Museums Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies Salary Grade:07 Hiring Range: $2.018- $2,472/per month Hours Per Week: 35 Required/Preferred Education, Experience, Skills: B.A. preferred with background in art or art history; one year's related experience; museum experience desirable; manual dexterity; matting and framing experience; strong written and verbal communications skills; familiarity with computers; ability to exercise good judgment and work independently; ability to lift up to 50 lb. and routinely work while standing Duties & Responsibilities: Reports to Conservator of Works of Art on Paper. Measures, cuts, hinges, and applies mats for routine projects. Carries out necessary framing and unframing, including hinge and adhesive removal, in preparation for examination and conservation treatment. Uses common hand and power tools. Maintains supplies and related records, including billing records. Interprets and implements lab/museum policies and procedures pertaining to loans, exhibitions and storage. Regularly interacts with conservation, curatorial, registration and exhibitions staff. Assists in training students, interns. Responsible for the physical organization and in-house transport of art on paper. Provides information to callers as necessary. Send resume and cover letter to Ellen S.
