Yucca

I'm forwarding this information request from the PPFA discussion
list. It's been out there since last week and no one on that list
appears to want to answer it. I have my ideas, but I thought that
someone on this list might have had actual experience with this
material and problem. The person asking the question is a commercial
picture framer and the print belongs to a client who did not want to
contact or pay a conservator.  Take that into account when replying
directly to her.

    I am really hoping for some thoughts on my yucca paper
    flattening problem, and the dog urine stain.  This was really
    not a joke, and I do need some help on this.

    The yucca paper is about 24 x30 inches, and has large open
    "ruffles" or waves (5 or 6 inches across sticking up about three
    inches when lying flat on a table).  I need some way to flatten
    it, and the customer has tried heat and steam to no avail.  Any
    ideas, please?  I do have a cold press, but I don't see what
    help it would be in this situation.    It's a very fibrous sort
    of material, and nearly a quarter of an inch thick.  Actually it
    looks like a flattened loofa that people use to bathe with.

    As for the dog problem, I had thought of Wei T'o spray.  Could
    neutralize acid, but what about the stain?  Since it's a print
    on water color paper, how about just blotting with water?  Can
    anyone foresee a problem with this?   I can't think of anything.

    I know somebody out there has dealt with problems like these,
    and I am open to any suggestion.
