Subject: Copper
Answer to the question from Zu-Chun Liao <zchun [at] nmns__edu__tw> The specifications concerning the "rusted copper objects" are far too general to be able to answer to your question. It is important to know whether it is a pure metal or an alloy, and what kind of other metals are involved. There are also many different forms of corrosion on copper or alloys, which should be determined first. Furtherly you have to consider if the corrosion form is active or not, and what to do with a possible patination on the piece that can be valuable as well. I recommend strongly to contact a conservator-restorer of metals in your area. When that would be impossible, you can feel free to give me more specifications and photographs so I can help you with your questions.
