Textile Storage Summer Internship The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is offering a summer internship for the purpose of re-housing its textile collection. The intern will be working under the supervision of the museum's Conservator of Objects and in conjunction with a consulting textile conservator and museum registrar. The intern will be carrying out an already developed re-housing plan, assisting with the hands-on aspects of re-housing including checking measurements, cutting and fabricating supports, vacuuming, sewing on labels and placing the re-housed textiles into their new storage cabinets. Minimum qualifications are enrollment in a recognized art conservation training program with an emphasis in textiles or demonstrated equivalent training and experience. Previous experience in re-housing textiles is a plus. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work well as a team player and have superior organizational skills. Stipend is $3,000 for a 12 week period, June 14 to September 3, 1999.
