Subject: Iron gall ink
**** Moderator's comments: Please respond directly to the author. The ECPA (European Commission on Preservation and Access) is currently working on a web site on iron gall ink corrosion. The web site will present information on iron gall ink; its importance in (art)history; and its slow, self-destructing properties, known as iron gall ink corrosion. Simultaneously with the web site a discussion list on ink corrosion will be created. Both the web site and the discussion list will be 'on air' early next year. Announcements on where to find them will be made in due time. A number of different Dutch institutes are cooperating in this project, among them the National Archives, the Royal Library, museum Boijmans van Beuningen and the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage. Conservators, researchers and paper restorers are supplying content for the web site. However, information and suggestions are still very welcome. Are you involved in research / projects related to ink corrosion, do you have experience with ink corrosion in your collection, do you have any relevant material (texts, reports, images) available, or do you have suggestions as to who does?
