The Tate Gallery is seeking to appoint the following five posts to prepare works of art for display and provide conservation services for the Tate Gallery of Modern Art opening in London in May 2000: Electronic Media Conservator (18 month contract with possible extension; Ref. TGMAEMC/1). To assist our electronic media conservator in examining, conserving, restoring, archiving and documenting sculptures and installations containing electronic and related media. Candidates should be familiar with sculptures containing elements such as video, audio, film, and kinetic works. Sculpture Conservator (Permanent Contract; Ref. TGMASC/1) Sculpture Conservator (18 month contract with possible extension; Ref. TGMASC/1) Paintings Conservator (Permanent Contract; Ref. TGMAPC/1) Paintings Conservator (18 month contract with possible extension; Ref. TGMAPC/1) The closing date for completed applications is Friday 15th January, 1999. The successful candidates will be educated to degree level with a recognised qualification in conservation or equivalent training. They will have a minimum of five years full time experience, which may include time spent obtaining relevant qualifications or training, and their knowledge and skills will include the conservation of Twentieth Century art. As well as undertaking the practical conservation of artworks, the successful candidates will be involved in all aspects of conservation at TGMA including the planning, installation and maintenance of displays.
