Conservation Specialist Dymaxion Project (Full time position) Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village is seeking a Conservation Specialist to assist with the restoration of the only surviving prototype of Buckminster Fuller's Dymaxion House (1946). The Conservation Specialist is responsible for conserving, documenting, and re-assembling architectural components under the direction of professional Conservators. Additional duties include training and supervision of staff and volunteers, interaction with off-site contractors, maintenance of tools and supplies, research on assigned topics, and the cleaning and maintenance of the workspace, equipment, and supplies. We are looking for inquisitive, self-motivated individuals with demonstrable skills in metalworking, machine repair, construction, or sculpture. Computer and photography skills are also desirable. Minimum requirements for the position are a High School Diploma, 4 years of experience, and good communication skills. Further studies or experience in engineering, mechanics, aviation, construction, conservation, or chemistry are preferred. The job requires physical activity and exposure to chemicals. The individual must be able wear a respirator when required. The work takes place at the Henry Ford Museum, and at an off-site facility in east Dearborn.
