Subject: Book signing
The New York Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers is sponsoring an important book signing for book collectors, historical societies, archivists, librarians, conservators, bookbinders and curators on Monday, January 24, 2000 at the Center for Book Arts, 28 West 27th Street, 3rd floor, at 6:00 P.M. Six authors of books about conservation and bookbinding will be there to sign books and chat. The authors are: Jane Greenfield, Former Head Book Conservator at Yale University's Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library is the author of "ABC of Bookbinding." Greenfield and Jenny Hille, a book conservator and library preservation consultant, have co-authored "Headbands and How to Work Them." Barbara Rhodes, conservator at the library at the American Museum of Natural History, and William Streeter, a hand bookbinder and teacher, co-authored "Before Photocopying--The Art and History of Mechanical Copying 1780-1938." Eleonore Kissel, a paper conservator and consultant in preventive conservation, and Erin Vigneau, a book conservator and Assistant General Collections Conservator at Princeton University Library, both have authored "Architectural Photoreproductions--A Manual for Identification and Care", an important manual for conservators. Most of the authors are Guild members and their books will be on sale at a 10% discount during the event. There will be a reception following the book signing.
