Subject: Galvanized iron
I am interested in finding out what other conservators are using to treat rusting galvanized iron. In the past I have used citric acid to reduce rust spots, but I am concerned that this could lead to future problems, particularly with large artefacts that cannot be thoroughly rinsed. Has anyone had success with less interventive treatments such as corrosion inhibiting coatings?
