Examining water wells

A client of mine is in the process of conserving an early nineteenth
century house and wants to place the water well back into service.
Before doing this, the client wishes to have the silt layer in the
bottom of the well (75 feet deep with about 18 feet of water)
extracted or somehow examined for artifacts.  Are there any services
available for this type of work?
