Subject: Position at Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory
Full-time State of Maryland contractual position. Work will be performed at both the U.S. Navy Yard in Washington D.C., and at the MAC Lab in southern Maryland. The successful candidate will be responsible for examination and treatment of archaeological artifacts, collections management of artifacts from federal projects, and prepare written reports under the supervision of the Lead Conservator. All work will comply with Federal and State health and safety rules and regulations. The successful candidate must bide by the American Institute for Conservation Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Requirements: Advanced Degree in conservation with background in Materials Science and Chemistry. Minimum of 1 year working with archaeological artifacts and/or museum objects. Applicant may substitute additional experience for the required education at the rate of 2 years of experience for one year of education for a maximum of 2 years.
