Two proposed international standards of interest to the preservation/conservation community are now out for review. NISO members are invited to review and comment on these Committee Drafts (CDs): CD 15659 "Paper and boards intended for long term storage in contact with documents--Discoloration test" Describes a standard test which measures the tendency of a paper or board to cause discoloration over-time when adjacent to paper documents (including pieces of art). Deadline for comments: June 15, 2000 CD 16245 "Archive boxes and file covers for paper and parchment documents" Specifies requirements for the environmental, technical, and handling of file covers (folded paper or board used to store or separate documents) and archives boxes. This standard does not apply to storage of photographic materials. Deadline for comments: June 15, 2000 To request a copy of these CD's send an email message to nisohq [at] niso__org. These standards were developed by ISO TC 46 Subcommittee 10 on Physical Keeping of Documents.
