The Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory at the Jefferson
Patterson Park and Museum, St. Leonard, seeks a highly motivated,
organized, and creative individual to coordinate U.S. Navy
conservation projects; to conserve artifacts from wet sites and
Naval Historical Center collections; to supervise a conservation
technician, interns and volunteers.

The successful candidate will work in a new state-of-the-art
conservation and collections management facility.

Applicant must have demonstrated experience in conservation theory,
principles, and methods, with archaeological conservation experience
preferred.  Knowledge of materials sciences, chemistry, health and
safety issues, and ethics a must.

This is a full time contractual position without benefits.
Requirements: advanced degree in conservation and minimum 5 years
practical experience with archaeological materials.  Applicant may
substitute additional experience for the required education at the
rate of three years experience for one year of education for a
maximum of 2 years.

Salary $32,274/year.
