Conservation Assistant Archbishop Marsh's Library and The Delmas Conservation Bindery The Delmas Bindery was founded in 1988 in Dublin, designed by the Irish architect, Arthur Gibney. It is a busy commercial conservation studio with three conservators who carry out work for a number of national Irish institutions and for private individuals. Conservation work undertaken includes: prints; soft-media drawings; architectural drawings; watercolours; maps; sketchbooks; manuscripts; printed volumes; archaeological studies; guard books; various archival material; and illuminated works on vellum. Two-year contract, open to either: Book Conservator Candidates should hold a recognised qualification in book conservation or relevant practical experience and be able to work without close supervision. Salary IRP13,500 to IRP15,000, depending on experience. or Recent graduate in book conservation who is seeking further training. Salary IRP12,000. The successful candidate will be required to assist in the conservation and storage of early printed volumes and manuscripts, coloured maps and various archival material. There will also be the opportunity to work on framed material--mainly prints and drawings--and to assist in their conservation, mounting and reframing. Some experience in the construction of phase-boxes, drop-back (clamshell) boxes, portfolios, fascicles and mount-cutting would be useful, although not essential. Candidates must be able to work efficiently and to deadlines.
