Conservation Scientist Freer Gallery The Department of Conservation and Scientific Research, Freer Gallery of Art/Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, has available a short-term position to work in a research program devoted to the study of East Asian paintings using scientific methods. We are looking for a person with a good research background in the physical sciences who can develop novel approaches to research in this area as well as use existing methods. Doctoral level qualifications or equivalent would be appropriate; previous experience in the field is desirable but not essential. Applicants should be U.S. citizens or permanently resident non-citizens. The position is full time at grade IS-11, starting salary $42,724 plus benefits, and the appointment will be for one year in the first place with the possibility of renewal.
