Subject: Internship in paper conservation
The Conservation/Preservation Department of the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), a museum and study centre devoted to the art of architecture and its history, is pleased to announce a twelve-month internship in paper conservation funded by the Getty Grant Program (Los Angeles). The intern will focus on two projects: 1. The intern will examine, document, and carry out the intensive conservation treatment of a large collection of 19th-century architectural drawings. He/she will also participate in a comparative technical examination of the materials and techniques of the drawings. 2. The intern will take responsibility for the loan or exhibition of a body of objects from the modern era. He/she will deal not only with the conservation and preservation issues but also with all conservation administration procedures for the loan or exhibition. The intern will also take part in the day-to-day operations of the Conservation Department and will be expected to participate in professional activities such as conferences, workshops, and visits to other institutions. Candidates will be considered who are recent graduates (maximum three years since graduation) of a recognized training program. Knowledge of both English and French are assets. Selection of candidates to be interviewed will be made by committee. Candidates to be interviewed may be asked to submit a portfolio of conservation projects.
