Conservation Technician Temporary position New York City Municipal Reference and Research Center Job Description: This is a temporary, grant-funded position. Under supervision with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, performs professional work in the Archives Conservation Laboratory. Tasks include the preparation of nineteenth and twentieth century works for microfilming by collating volumes, repairing tears, humidification and flattening of folded or creased materials, de-acidification/encapsulation of large foldout maps and charts and occasional binding repair work. Salary $17.00/HR Please note this is a temporary position (approximately 220 hours). Benefits may be available but are not guaranteed. Qualification Requirements: Master's degree in conservation (preferred) or baccalaureate degree. One year full-time professional experience in a conservation laboratory, library, museum, archives or similar institution; or, education and/or experience equivalent to above.
