Program Assistants, Part time Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Job Description: Student employment opportunity with potential for conversion to permanent status at end of program Eligible Applicants: Graduate students enrolled at least half-time Hours: 20-24 hours per week Salary: $23,304 - 28,886 (pro-rated) depending on experience Open: Until filled The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), a federal agency that provides grants to the nation's museums and libraries, has three part-time program assistant positions available to assist in the Office of Museum Services (OMS). This opportunity provides students with experience in an office that interacts with all types of museums throughout the United States. Students will work under the general supervision of OMS Program Officers. Responsibilities will include a variety of tasks in support of the management of the programs, including coordinating special projects, developing logistical arrangements for program meetings and workshops, collecting, organizing and preparing statistical data; gathering and synthesizing information about the application review process; locating and assembling information for various reports, briefs, and conferences; preparing and reviewing outgoing correspondence; maintaining complex filing systems, and performing other assigned clerical duties. Eligible students will be enrolled in a graduate academic program at least half-time during their time of employment. Preference will be given to students enrolled in graduate museum studies programs or areas that correspond with museum disciplines (art, history, science, anthropology, historic preservation, zoology, etc). Preference will be given to students who have experience working in museums, including volunteer experience. Preference will be given to students with computer experience. Open until filled.
