The 20th anniversary meeting of the Midwest Regional Conservation
Guild will be held at Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel in Memphis,

On Friday the 3rd there will be a preconference workshop on Digital
Technology for Conservation; the workshop will cover the topics
necessary for conservators to launch a digital documentation
protocol in their workplace. Techniques for image capture will be
discussed, these will include slide scanners, flatbed scanners,
consumer digital cameras and high-resolution 4X5 scanning backs; the
cameras will be demonstrated. Basic file manipulation in Adobe
Photoshop will be demonstrated with some time for groups to learn
basic functions on PC and Mac laptops. File formats and file
migration will be discussed. Printing on the newest
ultra-stable--pigmented inks--ink jet printer will be discussed and
possibly demonstrated. The workshop leader will be Tim Vitale.
