National Heritage Board Singapore Conservator/Senior Conservator for Objects (2 positions) (2-Year Contract, S$58,000 to S$81,000 per annum with housing allowance, gratuity and other incentives) The Heritage Conservation Centre (HCC) of the National Heritage Board <URL:http://www.nhb.gov.sg> is looking for Conservators/Senior Conservators in its Objects departments. The HCC supports the collections and exhibitions of the National Heritage Board's museums: Singapore History Museum, Singapore Art Museum and Asian Civilisations Museum. The Objects Conservators (2 positions) will work with a team of three other conservators on a variety of organic and inorganic antiquities such as metals, wood, woven fibre, ceramics of Southeast, East, West and South Asian origins as well as objects made of more recent materials. Candidates should have good practical experience with a wide range of materials, have worked in museums and have participated in exhibition planning and well versed with museum display issues and techniques. All practical work will be based in a new, purpose built, spacious laboratory at the HCC in Singapore. Applicants should preferably possess a recognised qualification in textile/objects conservation and a minimum of two years' practical studio experience preferably in a museum environment. For those who wish to be considered for the senior conservator,s position, additional experience in planning, organising and co-ordinating the setting-up of conservation laboratories and programmes will be preferred. The post is a fixed two year contract. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
