Subject: Embroidered silk tapestry
I need advice on how to store a silk tapestry from the mid-19th century. It is heavily embroidered on both sides and is 72 x 48 inches. It appears to have been folded for storage for some time and is rather heavily creased. It is also in rather bad condition as the silk is torn (practically shredded in some places) and shedding. The embroidery, however, is quite beautiful and mostly intact, and we'd like to protect that as much as possible. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
