Archive Conservation Interns Two posts, 1 year contracts Dorset Archives Service The Dorset Parish Records Preservation Project is operated by the Dorset Archives Services with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Friends of Dorset Archives. The Project requires two full time Interns to assist with the Project conservation programme. The programme consists of assessment and remedial treatment for paper and parchment manuscript documents and early limp vellum stationery bindings. The Internships include technical training and professional development and the Interns will match their progress against the nationally recognised PACR accreditation standards. Dorset Archives Service has one of the best-equipped and modern conservation facilities of its kind in the UK. The Interns will join the Conservation Unit team, which is part of the Preservation Services Division at the Dorset Record Office. Candidates should have some formal training and recognised qualification in paper, book or archive conservation, such as a first degree or post-graduate degree. Some practical experience of working in a conservation practice and/or an archive will be advantageous. The successful applicants will have to work well in a team, be confident and enthusiastic and have a strong desire to pursue a career as a professional conservator. The salary for these posts is UKP 12,192 - 12,444 (Local Government Scale 3 s.c.p. 14-15).
