Subject: Oil on paper
**** Moderator's comments: This query comes from a person who is not on the DistList and will not see any responses that are posted here. Please respond directly to sender and if of general interest post it here as well Many oil painters desire to paint on quality (cotton rag) paper and not use primer or gesso. Some do, but most are reluctant to do so as tradition says that the "oil" will rot the paper. I understand some recent work has shown old paintings on paper unaffected. Can someone quote reference to this please?
