Final Announcement and Call for Posters
Symposium K on
Cellulose and Paper Deterioration
Strasbourg, France
June 5-8, 2001

This E-MRS Symposium is aimed to give an overview of current status
of the wide field of the ageing (degradation) of paper and
cellulose. Thus we call for papers and posters giving the latest
information on research and development in the fields of
fundamental, applied, technological and industrial research related
to the subject of the symposium. Special emphasis is laid on the
preservation and conservation of our paper-based deteriorated
cultural heritage. Another main topic will deal with potential
applications of innovative analytical techniques.

There will be sessions on the following topics:

Fundamentals on ageing and degradation kinetics and mechanisms
Accelerated ageing techniques in paper science and technology
Effects of air pollutants on the ageing of paper
Developments in (non destructive) analytical methods
The role of paper science in conservation science

Finally there will be a round table discussion for establishing the
needs in future research.

The Scientific Committee consists of:
