Subject: Walrus ivory carving
An exquisitely carved crane (bird), made of walrus ivory, stands about 4 inches high on two very slender legs. The legs broke off just above the feet and due to either shrinkage or springing, they no longer join correctly. If one leg is joined, the other is off by a couple of millimeters. I can see no way of rejoining the feet to the legs and wondered if anyone has had experience humidifying walrus ivory in order to try to reconfigure it.
