Subject: Conference on history and future of conservation
The British Museum Department of Conservation Conference Past Practice--Future Prospects Clore Education Centre Great Court, British Museum 12-14 September 2001 There are two main themes to this conference--the history of conservation and the future practice of conservation. The 'history' papers will explore the careers of important and influential conservators, record the history of conservation in a number of institutions around the world, or examine the history of of certain conservation techniques. In the main, the period covered stops in the mid 20th century. 'Future practice' is about the challenges that the conservation profession has to face in the 21st century. 32 papers will be presented. NB: A subvention has allowed us to reduce the registration fee to UKP100 for those registering before 31st July. The registration fee includes the volume of pre-prints, teas, coffees and lunches on all three days and a reception in the British Museum on the 12th September.
