Subject: Position at Newhailes
House Steward (Ref HS/SM) Newhailes Newhailes is an enchanting 18th century house and designed landscape of rare quality and atmosphere on the outskirts of Edinburgh. As well as offering rich evidence of period decorative arts, Newhailes was very characteristic of the Scottish Enlightenment, being home to one of its leading figures and host to many famous figures of the time. Opening to the public in 2002, Newhailes will provide visitors with a thrill of discovery and awaken their senses and emotions. The Trust now seeks to augment the small team dedicated to the conservation of the House, its interiors and contents and the Estate and Gardens and to the presentation and interpretation of the whole property to visitors. House Steward (Ref HS/SM): While primarily responsible for developing and implementing a House and Collections Care Programme and for the security of the house and its contents, you will also provide back-up administrative support to the Property Manager and participate in the programme of guided tours. With a relevant degree and practical experience of caring for historic interiors and collections, you will be passionate about preventive conservation and will be able to enthuse and train others.
