Applications for Entrance Examination
Malta Centre for Restoration

The Malta Centre for Restoration is inviting applications to sit the
Entrance Examination for admission into the four-year degree course
in Conservation and Restoration Studies starting October 2001. The
Entrance Exam will be held between 20th and 27th August 2001 (both
days inclusive). It consists of five theory test papers, which are
"Introduction to Conservation Science", "Archaeology",
"Architecture", "History of Art" and "Artistic Techniques", a Line
Drawing test and one practical test session in any one of the four
areas of study that the four-year degree course offers. The four
areas of study are Area A--Painting and Polychrome Sculpture; Area
B--Ceramics, Glass, Metals and Stone; Area C--Textiles; Area
D--Books and Paper.

For admission into this degree course, candidates aged between 18
and 22 years of age are required to have the Matriculation
Certificate or equivalent, any one of the three special entry
requirements which are Art or Chemistry or History at SEC level or
equivalent and a pass in the Entrance Examination. Candidates who
are 23 years old or more are advised to contact the Assistant
Director of Academic Studies, Dr Martina Caruana, to obtain further
details of admission. Application forms from the Malta Centre for
Restoration are to be submitted by not later than Friday, 10th
August. The fee is $33 (subject to rate of exchange).For further
