Note that registration and settlement are receivable not later than September 11, 2001 Course range and content: This wholly practical course is entirely hands-on, and has been specially designed with mid-career restorers and conservators in mind. It offers an unusual and uniquely effective course format that allows each participant to master and directly implement desirable skills by applying it to any particularly troublesome pieces or restoration projects they have selected to bring along to the course programme. Each participant may rely on patient, supportive tutoring, and may expect to surmount real restoration challenges. Participants are encouraged to bring their most challenging restoration pieces for expertly guided completion under close oversight. Through the knowledgeable use and application of the most contemporary and specialized restoration and conservation materials, such pieces will be completed through their most challenging stages. Particular care will also be taken to impart these skills to the participant. All materials are supplied by the Academy. The curriculum will also feature the following: * remodelling missing glass and crystal * metallic finishes (lustres, gilding etc.) * dealing with translucent bodies and glazes * glass-like polishing and tidemarks * modelling wax moulds and casting Prior experience in practical restoration is an essential prerequisite for registration and successful participation.
