Herbarium Conservator Paper Conservators Mount Cutter National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside (NMGM) National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside (NMGM) <URL:http://www.nmgm.org.uk> is responsible for the management of 8 institutions containing outstanding collections of national importance in the areas of art, history and science. Applications are invited for the following positions within the Paper Conservation Department. 1 year fixed term contract Salary UKP18,000 NMGM is currently seeking a suitable candidate to undertake the conservation of the Smith Herbarium, on loan from the Linnean Society of London. You will possess a conservation degree or relevant conservation qualification. Experience in the conservation of botany collections is desirable. Familiarity with the systems of botanical nomenclature would be an advantage. Well-developed communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently. Paper Conservator (Archives) 7 month fixed term contract Salary UKP15,000 pro rata NMGM is looking for a Paper Conservator in the field of Archives with the ability to undertake work of a high order. You will work on an exciting range of items from NMGM's collections within a busy conservation section. You will have a degree and/or an equivalent qualification in the Conservation of Archives. In addition, you should have good organisational abilities and communication skills. Paper Conservator (Fine Art on Paper) 5 month fixed term contract--Maternity Cover Salary UKP15,000 pro rata We are looking for a Paper Conservator in the field of Fine Art on Paper to work on an exciting range of items from NMGM's collections. Applicants should have a degree and/or an equivalent qualification in the Conservation of Fine Art on Paper. In addition, you should have good organisational abilities and communication skills. Conservation Mount Cutter Established Salary UKP11,500 - UKP14,420 To be the successful candidate you will have five GCSEs or equivalent, including English Language and 4 years experience in an associated area of work (including training). A qualification in a relevant field of practical conservation is desirable. You will have excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail. A systematic and well-ordered approach is essential for this position. You will have good communication skills, and the ability to work independently and to deadlines. Computer literacy would be desirable. Ideally, you will have experience in mount cutting, although full training will be provided.
