Subject: Cleaning coins
Our city has recently opened a "time capsule." It is a copper box that was sealed into City Hall in 1938. The contents include several coins, which are rather badly corroded. A local coin collector has looked at the coins and valued them at varying amounts (most under $20, but one worth several hundred dollars). He recommends cleaning the coins with a silicone-based product called "Care." The mayor wants to put up an exhibit and would like the coins to look attractive. Any advice appreciated, Patricia L.
