Conservation Technician The New York Botanical Garden The LuEsther T. Mertz Library's Conservation Department seeks to fill a temporary part-time Conservation Technician position, beginning November 12, 2001, through August 17, 2002 (17 hrs./wk.) to work with the Library Conservation Staff to assist with the preparation, installation, maintenance and dismounting of exhibition of rare and fragile library materials in the new gallery. The Technician will also assist with the cleaning, stabilizing and rehousing of volumes from the Library Folio and Research collections and assist with the move of these materials to new storage facilities. Applicant should demonstrate manual skills; training and/or experience in care and handling of library materials, works of art, museum artifacts; interest in preservation career preferred.
