Subject: Printing plates
One collection in our archives includes printing plates (for color separations) from a book published in 1965. The plates, which are metal, have been wrapped in waste paper. It appears that the plates were not cleaned after they were used for printing, and so the paper has stuck to the plates. We plan to remove the paper (it peels away fairly readily, although it is destroyed in the process) and enclose the plates themselves in something non-stick, such as polyethylene bags. Does this seem reasonable? Is there something better we should do? Rebecca E.
