Science and Technology of the Environment for Sustainable Protection of Cultural Heritage European Commission Advanced Study Course UCL Centre for Sustainable Heritage April 8-19, 2002, London This course, organised by the UCL Centre for Sustainable Heritage, is aimed at young European conservation scientists and preventive conservators from EU member and candidate states. It will disseminate the results of scientific and technological research into sustainable protection of European cultural heritage, funded through European Commission Framework Programmes and other sources. The course will cover scientific, technological, environmental, architectural and engineering research for forecasting, monitoring and assessing damage to cultural heritage. Interdisciplinary discussions, practical exercises and case studies will be used alongside lectures to define conservation problems and solutions based on evidence from scientific research. The course will be conducted in English. There will be no charge for the course and successful candidates will be provided with accommodation and meals at no cost. Additionally, a limited number of travel bursaries will be available. This course is funded by the European Commission 5th Framework Programme.
