Internship Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory The Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory is offering an opportunity to participate in a 12 month conservation internship program from September 1, 2002 until August 30, 2003. The MAC Lab is Maryland's repository for archaeological collections, and the intern will have the opportunity to work on materials ranging from 9,000BP to the 20th century. Applicants must be students currently enrolled in a recognized conservation training program with an interest in archaeological materials. The successful applicant will work under the direction of the MAC Lab's Chief and Lead Conservators on condition assessments, environmental monitoring, treatment proposals, collection rehousing, and conservation treatments. There will be opportunities to pursue personal research topics, and the intern will be required to make a presentation at the annual Washington Conservation Guild Student Presentations. The MAC Lab will provide a stipend of $10,800, which must be matched by funds from the student's home institution. If the home institution cannot provide matching funds, other forms of match will be considered.
