Textile Conservator Langelands Museum, Denmark Full time (37 h/w) Minimum salary EUR32,750 p.a (243.000 d.kr p.a). The conservation department at Langelands Museum, Denmark seeks applicants for the position as textile conservator/deputy head of department. The department service 14 museums containing mixed collections and employ 4 full time conservators specialising in textile, social history, furniture and archaeological conservation, as well as staff on fixed term projects. A recognised qualification in textile conservation or equivalent, such as training in a conservation studio combined with practical experience is required. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual, who can work independently and to deadlines, is keen to develop existing skills, as well as acquiring new ones. It is also essential that the candidate is interested in working with a range of different museum professionals, and must therefore possess strong interpersonal and organisational skills in addition to good oral and written skills. Responsibilities include examination, photographic, digital and written documentation and remedial conservation of a range textile based objects. Preparation of objects for exhibition, including mount making. Taking part in general conservation activities such as environmental monitoring, climate and pest control, collection surveys and rehousing, advising about materials to be used for exhibition and storage, developing and running workshops for other museum professionals. The successful candidate will act as deputy head of the conservation department, and will have to take on the administrative duties as well as the general running of the department in the absence of the head.
