Subject: Course on conservation of waterlogged archaeological materials
An 80 credit (120 ECTS) diploma course is being offered in Waterlogged Archaeological Conservation at the Conservation Department of EVTEK Institute of Art and Design, Vantaa, Finland, starting September 2002 and finishing on March 2004. More information will be found at <URL:http://www.evtek.fi/design/applying/water> The topics are roughly the same as for the Marine Archaeological Conservation Course (2000-2002), but this new course has been reorganised to offer more practical work. Students will be given several artefacts to conserve as soon as in September 2002. Initiation to dendrochronology and conservation of bone will be new additions to this programme which enlarges the subject to the conservation of all waterlogged materials. Even if the course is more dedicated to trained conservators, students in conservation or archaeologists interested in conservation, we will consider too applicants having a scientific background and deeply interested in conservation.
