Paintings Conservator (2 positions)
University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne Conservation Service is seeking to
employ one fixed term (replacement) paintings conservator for 3
years and one full time continuing paintings conservator.

The University of Melbourne Conservation Service, located in The Ian
Potter Museum of Art, was established in June 1990 in recognition of
the need to care for The University's extensive collections of
cultural material and provide a Fee-for-Service program for external
clients. The Service has five key areas of focus including:

    *   Care and conservation of The University's collections of
        cultural materials

    *   Fee-for-Service conservation work for external clients

    *   International programs

    *   Teaching programs at The University of Melbourne

    *   Research and technical analysis

The two positions are as follows:

Position B001129: You will maintain an active and viable treatment
program for the paintings section including provision of treatment
proposals and quotations for clients, undertaking treatments,
supervising staff, providing advice to clients on the care and
conservation of paintings and ensuring the jobs are delivered within
budgetary and time constraints.

The Person: You will have a tertiary qualification in paintings
conservation with subsequent relevant conservation management and
hands on conservation treatment experience. You will have well
developed interpersonal and communication skills particularly in
relation to client liaison and have a demonstrable understanding of
and ability to deal with culturally sensitive and cross cultural
issues and be a member of the AICCM.

The Benefits: Salary $42,816 - $46,347 p.a. (HEW Level 6) plus
employer superannuation contributions of 17 percent. Staff
development and training opportunities and salary packaging options
are available.

Employment Type: This is a fixed term (replacement) position
available for three years.

Position B0011230: You will support the care and conservation of The
University's art collection and its active Fee- for Service
paintings conservation program by providing high level paintings
conservation treatment for The University and external clients.

The Person: You will have a tertiary qualification in paintings
conservation or equivalent with subsequent practical conservation
experience in the treatment of paintings.  You will have well
developed interpersonal and communication skills particularly in
relation to client liaison and have a demonstrable understanding of
and ability to deal with culturally sensitive and cross cultural
issues and be a member of the AICCM.

The Benefits: Salary $36,912 - $42,399 p.a. (HEW Level 5) plus
employer superannuation contributions of 17 percent. Staff
development and training opportunities and salary packaging options
are available.

Employment Type: This is a full time continuing position.
