Regional Workshop and Lecture Repair of Calf Bindings with Don Etherington A hands-on workshop on the special problems of repairing books bound in calf (thin leather, sensitivity to moisture) will be held at the Conservation Lab of the University of Michigan Library in Ann Arbor on Saturday May 4, 2002, 9:30 A.M.-4:30 P.M. Initially trained in England, Don Etherington has over 45 years experience in book conservation, fine binding, and library preservation. He is currently president of the Etherington Conservation Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. Slide Lecture by Monique Lallier and Don Etherington The Friends of the University of Michigan Library will host a joint presentation by Monique Lallier and Don Etherington on Sunday May 5, 2002, at 4 P.M. in the Special Collections Library at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. This husband-and-wife team will talk about fine binding and how the differences in their training and background (the artist and the conservator) has had an impact on their binding. The Special Collections Library is located on the 7th floor of the south wing of the Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library on the U-M central campus in Ann Arbor.
