Conservator Marriott Library University of Utah Job #: YE 11324 Grade: 12 The University of Utah's Marriott Library is seeking an innovative and productive rare book conservator to join its preservation program. Applicants should possess demonstrable expertise in all aspects of rare book and paper conservation related to treatment of historically significant printed and manuscript book collections. The position is responsible for developing and maintaining efficient protocols for examining, documenting, repairing, and housing book materials from all historical periods. The position offers a large degree of autonomy to candidates interested in developing creative approaches to conservation problems and training conservation technicians. Applicants should possess excellent dexterity, good communication skills, a sense of humor, and an interest in working in a collaborative work environment. Requirements for the position include a Bachelors degree or equivalent, and five years of relevant work experience. Teaching experience is desirable, and a portfolio, including a resume listing three professional references, is strongly recommended for all serious applicants. 40 hours per week (M-F daytime hours). Vacation, medical, and retirement benefits. Entry rate: $40,000-$45,000 depending upon qualifications.
