Please respond directly to sender and if of general interest post it here as well Fire suppression in many island countries with scarce fresh water sources relies on sea water. How does one deal with salt water damage? We have the added problems of high temperatures and humidity contributing to rapid mould growth; and in developing nations, a scarcity of funds and local conservation experience. Can you suggest any sources or resources for information about disaster recovery from sea water for: damp, wet and saturated paper records, books and archival files, and photographic records? What are the effects of sea water and recovery methods for plastic based materials and metal oxide recording layers?
