Conference on furniture conservation

From: Jake Kaner <jake.kaner>
Date: Wednesday, May 1, 2002
The first annual Twentieth Century Furniture Research Group (TCFRG)
conference
1900 - 1939: Thirty-nine years of innovation
Owen Harris Lecture Theatre
Saturday 25th May 2002
9:30 am-5 pm

A small exhibition of Isokon furniture will be on display for the
poster session at the lunch interval. This will include a model of
the long chair, working jigs, formers and design work.

The programme of lectures and case studies is aimed at furniture
historians, furniture conservators, design history students,
curators, objects conservators and others with an interest in
twentieth century furniture, materials and design.

The Twentieth Century Furniture Research Group (TCFRG) was formed in
March 2001 and is led by Prof. Jake Kaner. It is one of the major
research groups, which forms part of the High Wycombe International
Research Centre for Furniture Studies (HWIRCF), which is housed on
the High Wycombe campus of Buckinghamshire Chilterns University
College.

One aim of the TCFRG is to promote and preserve furniture
manufactured in the Chilterns throughout the twentieth century. This
aim is being developed through the G-Plan archive, a project that is
actively seeking material and objects relating to the furniture
making activities of this area. If you have any information, which
you would like to be considered for this project, then please
contact Prof. Jake Kaner, by telephone, post or email.
