Business Manager Assistant Shipkeeping Conservator National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside (NMGM) Salary UKP24,000 - UKP30,287 One Year Fixed Term Contract National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside (NMGM) <URL:http://www.nmgm.org.uk> is responsible for the management of 8 venues containing outstanding collections of national importance in the areas of art, history and science. NMGM is recruiting a Business Manager to lead the development of exciting commercial opportunities within the field of artwork conservation. The award winning Conservation Centre has already developed an income stream from the provision of artwork conservation, research and training services. An Office of Science and Technology grant has now made it possible to expand these services and extend their commercial growth. You will be of graduate calibre and be able to demonstrate success in the development and management of a small enterprise/start up. You will be goal orientated, proficient in business planning, financial accounting, project management, contract negotiation and marketing. You will be highly motivated and enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills and may have an interest in the arts and sciences. Reference number 2002/005 Assistant Shipkeeping Conservator Salary UKP11,500 You will assist in the care, conservation and restoration, where applicable, of NMGM's important Ship and Boat collection and other objects. You will have 5 GCSEs or equivalent and will have acquired good woodworking craft skills. You will be part of a dedicated team and will assist staff across a range of skilled tasks. Experience in the use of hand and power tools is essential and manual dexterity will be required for work on fine objects, such as small wooden boats. The ability to work at heights will be required, as will physical fitness for the maintenance of ships and the movement of often large and complex objects. Basic knowledge of ships and boat materials, their structures and their care is desirable, as is the ability to use computers, keep records and compile reports.
