Collection Move Assistant Mystic Seaport Museum Mystic Seaport Museum <URL:http://www.mysticseaport.org> seeks applicants for a temporary (two-year appointment minimum), full-time position to assist the Curatorial Department in the safe and orderly transport and installation of the general collection into the new collection storage facility in the Museum's new American Maritime Education and Research Center. The individual will help prepare the artifacts and the new storage units for the move. In addition to the typical collection move-related tasks (inventorying, cleaning, packing/unpacking, etc.), he/she will assist in the CO2 fumigation process and the supervision of interns, volunteers, and non-curatorial staff who may also be assisting with the move. He/she will also carry out other collection management tasks when necessary to assist the regular staff. Preferred qualifications include: College degree w/major in history, museum studies, or fine/applied arts; one-year of museum collection experience; computer experience (w/collection management software preferred); detail-oriented and able to handle fragile objects w/great care; valid drivers license; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and ascend/descend stairs.
