Subject: A death
Barbara Adams, whom many conservation students from the Institute of Archaeology, London will remember from her years as Curator of the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, University College, died on June 26, 2002 from cancer. After a time working in the Natural History Museum, Barbara moved to the Petrie Museum and was its guiding light and saviour for 30 years, battling against university cuts and unenlightened attitudes. Her commitment to conservation was extraordinary and resulted in astonishing discoveries in the collection and the further development of the treatment of ancient Egyptian material. At times forthright, she was also immensely kind and tolerant and went to great lengths to support those with an interest in Egypt. She was a wonderful person, a great friend, an inspiring colleague. She is greatly missed. *** Conservation DistList Instance 16:4 Distributed: Wednesday, July 3, 2002 Message Id: cdl-16-4-001 ***Received on Friday, 28 June, 2002
