Project Conservator at Wallington (18 months fixed term contract)
The National Trust (UK)

The National Trust <URL:http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk> is Europe's
leading conservation charity, and its collections, housed in some
two hundred properties open to the public, are of outstanding
importance. Wallington, Northumberland, is a Palladian mansion
situated 20 miles north-west of Newcastle upon Tyne. The interior is
decorated with rococo plasterwork, it houses an internationally
important collection of ceramics, and it has significant
Pre-Raphaelite connections. Wallington will be undergoing major
building works from September 2002 until March 2004, and a Project
Conservator is required to assist with preparing the house for this
work, to be on site whilst the work is progressing to ensure the
protection of the historic fabric and contents, and to plan and
assist in the reinstatement of the contents.

Applicants should hold a recognised qualification in conservation
and have two years work experience (previous project experience will
be an advantage), and must be able to provide evidence of their
right to employment in the EC. The conservator appointed will be
working as part of a team comprising House and Regional Staff,
together with National Trust Conservation Advisers.

This is a 18 month full time (39 hours per week) fixed term
contract. The National Trust is committed to equal opportunities.
Salary: Pounds sterling 15,955 p/a. Initial enquiries should be
