Project Conservator at Wallington (18 months fixed term contract) The National Trust (UK) The National Trust <URL:http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk> is Europe's leading conservation charity, and its collections, housed in some two hundred properties open to the public, are of outstanding importance. Wallington, Northumberland, is a Palladian mansion situated 20 miles north-west of Newcastle upon Tyne. The interior is decorated with rococo plasterwork, it houses an internationally important collection of ceramics, and it has significant Pre-Raphaelite connections. Wallington will be undergoing major building works from September 2002 until March 2004, and a Project Conservator is required to assist with preparing the house for this work, to be on site whilst the work is progressing to ensure the protection of the historic fabric and contents, and to plan and assist in the reinstatement of the contents. Applicants should hold a recognised qualification in conservation and have two years work experience (previous project experience will be an advantage), and must be able to provide evidence of their right to employment in the EC. The conservator appointed will be working as part of a team comprising House and Regional Staff, together with National Trust Conservation Advisers. This is a 18 month full time (39 hours per week) fixed term contract. The National Trust is committed to equal opportunities. Salary: Pounds sterling 15,955 p/a.
