Subject: Hydrogen peroxide as cleaning agent
Daniel-Harry Steward <posterdoctor [at] msn__com> writes >I use a solution of hydrogen peroxide to clean paper surfaces. The >paper is usually printed posters and the inks are not affected by >the cleaning wash. I have done numerous tests and the papers appear >to have no residual damage from the peroxide solution. Does anyone have other input with this procedure. I feel compelled to observe that Poster Doctor is in no way a Doctor, at least not one who subscribes to the Hippocratic oath. Hydrogen peroxide is a powerful bleach. Used improperly, some say even used properly, it causes serious, irreversible damage to the paper, as well as many of the printing inks found in modern and vintage posters. Poster Doctor needs to show his patients some respect and go to medical school.
