Subject: Seminar on jewelry technology
Conservators working with jewellery and precious metal object produced over the last few centuries might be interested in a full day seminar to be held in New York, November 2, 2002. Entitled 'Dating and authenticating Georgian and Victorian Jewelry', the seminar will look at the materials and construction of 18th-19th century jewelry, the profound changes in jewelry production technology in the wake of the Industrial Revolution, microscopic methods of identifying processes and construction, and methods of forgery detection. The seminar has been arranged by the American Society of Jewellery Historians and will be presented by Dr Jack Ogden.
