Subject: Publication on mount making
The second edition of Mount-making for Museum Objects is now available. Authored by Robert Barclay and Carole Dignard (of the Canadian Conservation Institute) and Andre Bergeron (of the Centre de Conservation du Quebec), the book covers such topics as the theory of support, recommended mounting materials with tips on their uses and working properties, and methods of measuring objects. Also included are detailed descriptions of various custom-made mounts, with photographs and drawings for each (illustrations by Carl Schlichting, private conservator and mount-maker in British Columbia). New to this 2002 edition are technical updates on recommended materials, further discussions on mount design, detailed descriptions of three additional custom-made mounts, and more pictures of mounts and techniques. This paperback, ring-bound, 74-page book is priced at just US$40 (CAN$40 for orders from Canada), excluding shipping and handling charges.
