Subject: Position at Vancouver Museum
Conservation position (temporary position) Vancouver Museum There is a temporary junior conservation position at the Vancouver Museum, working on a collection of First Nations Basketry. The position will start as soon as possible and be for 3 weeks (possibly 4). This person will be responsible for writing condition reports, cleaning and treating a group of baskets for an upcoming exhibit. The exhibit is a collaboration with three local First Nations entitled "Honouring Our Basketmakers". The work will be done under the supervision and direction of the VM's senior Conservator. Requirements: completion of a recognized conservation training programme, with an emphasis on the conservation of three-dimensional artifacts or textiles. Must possess good written and verbal skills. Rate of pay is $18.19 per hour, plus a 12% allowance in lieu of benefits and vacation pay. The work week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday 9 - 5, but there is a possibility of flexible hours by mutual agreement. Must be eligible to work in Canada.
